Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
A while back (okay, a year back actually) I purchased a groupon for a photo book deal. I grabbed it because I figured that I could make a photo book with all of my art in it. When I go to conventions I have a portfolio thing with all of my art inside of it. It works just fine, but it looks dinky and is actually quite bulky. So, I figured if I put all of my work into a book, it would look a lot better and also be easier to take with me when I travel for cons. I had the groupon for almost a year, realized it was going to expire in a few days, freaked out and then threw this together and ordered he night before it expired. XD
Thus, the book above was formed. It is a photo wrap, hard cover, 8.5 x 11 book. It is something around 110 pages, plus or minus. It has pretty much all of my work in it, or at least what I like the best out of all of my body of work. It has 6 sections in it: Original, Maledonna (still original), Fanart, Commissions, Traditional Work, and Professional Work.
The groupon was for $35 for $115 worth of book and I def. used all of that up. The book was printed by Photobook America. The quality is great and I would recommend them. Probably more for actual photo books though, just because of the price. I just decided to use them in an unconventional way since the deal was good. XD The only thing I found surprising and might be an issue for some people is that their company name is “Photobook America”, yet my book was printed and sent from Malaysia. I sort of have a problem with this but at the same time I don’t. It only irks me a little because one: if your company has “america” in the title, it should probably be based out of the US and two: I just wish more companies didn’t outsource and kept jobs in the US. But oh well, I found out after I ordered. And I’m not one to make a huff about it anyway.
Anyway, I’ll probably eventually tweak this a bit and then sell copies of it. I just need to find a company to print through that is a bit more suited for this type of thing.
